Im going to be a first time mom & my baby's nursery is on a different floor in my house. Im looking for the best portable baby monitor, possibly a picture one. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I would go for a basic sound only monitor. When I was setting up my nursery we bought a motion and sound monitor. I found it to be useless for a new born as the baby was too small to set it off. It needed an adult or something bigger to set it off as it needed big movements (a hand waving in front of it.) I have one by fisher price that came with 2 speakers and the base. It is really good and picks up all sounds (it is so sensitive that it picks up the grand father clock chiming in the dinning room!) I love it. It only cost us about $80 from baby target.
I have an Angel Care motion monitor. It’s fantastic for peace of mind! You’re not continually waking up to check they’re still breathing!
i got one from my sis in law so idk but i DO have some helpful information regarding vaccines that you may want to know. Did you know that EVERY vaccine i’ve researched so far has harmful things in it like formaldehyde, a type of mercury, aluminum, MSG, and other VERY harmful things? you can read more at my blog. I cited all my information that i found at the end of my post so you can check the credibility of the sources. I know i will no longer continue to vaccinate my son knowing all this. also watch out for the H1N1. its just as bad. you can find my blog at http://www.tellmemoreblog.com.
I hope this helps other uninformed mothers out there!
I LOVE MOBICAM i researched it and it was consumers buyers guides recommendation. the camera get great signal and unlike other monitors doesn’t pick up other peoples monitors. it also has soooo many other features like an add on kit that can link with a password your baby’s cam online so u can see it at work or on ur i phone it’s great
I too have heard the Angel Care Movement Monitor is really good.
I have a 8 week old baby, and I brought the Tomee Tippee Movement Monitor, and it is BRILLIANT! My newborn was just under 7lbs and he still set it off when he moved off the monitor so I am unsure why people say that young babies dont set them off.
I just found it peace of mind knowing that if something happened to my little one during the night I would be aware of it pretty much instantly.
Of course, there are sceptics but I found a movement monitor to be excellent. Gives you reassurance expecially if your bub is not sleeping in the same room as you as ours did not.
Good luck with your decision and upcoming labour.
