This is basically a testament to the Baby Signing Time videos (www.signingtime.com ... plus some proud parents bragging about their little one. :-D No signs were being demonstrated for her, she had them memorized. She had just turned 14 months at the time of the video.

This is great….Here, you have a baby, who, compared to all the hearing members of my family, is a genius!!!
What I mean is, I’ve been Deaf since 1971 and, in nearly 37 years, nary a one of my family has ever learned signs.

If you haven’t done so already, you ought to submit this video to Signing Time. Every month we choose a Signing Time Star and feature them in our newsletter. If chosen you could get a $25 gift certificate to our store.

Cool. I will teach my baby sign too. Did you know that Deaf children with good role models actually sign more than hearing children talk? i knew a Deaf family with a 2 year old, we had conversations. I was shocked!! :-)

Your little girl is so cute! Locke is going through the little toddler talking stage he now says apple, sit down, go in a car, horsie giddy up, chair, baby, cup. He point to things and says the words. I think he could learn sign language if I tried to teach it to him.

She is SO cute! I’m an ASL interpreter-in-training, and I am so excited to have children and to teach them to sign! It’s really amazing to see that it can be done, and how natural it looks like it feels to her, almost like a game. Thanks for posting :)

  • HollyTriedIt says:

Wow! Gary, I’m so sad to hear that. At least it appears that this generation of children will change all of that!

My daughter, Kalen, loves watching baby Lyora sign. I added Lyora to our playlist of signing YouTube videos.

  • hkicksign says:

Your daughter is darling and an amazing signer! When did you start doing sign with her?

  • lyoramedia says:

Thanks, we started playing the videos and interacting with her with it around 3 months old. As an update, she’s still signing away like a second language but a great grasp of verbal language as well now that she’s 2 and 1/2. :) She still loves Signing Time.
