Baby blankets have a lot of lofty claims associated with them. "This baby blanket will calm fussy babies" proclaims one brand. According to another manufacturer's website, "This baby blanket will help your baby sleep faster, reduce colic, assist in breastfeeding and prevent scratching!"
Furthermore, The Miracle Blanket alleges that it "reduces the likelihood of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome by helping the baby sleep on his or her back." It's unrealistic to assume that a blanket can be a magic cure-all for infant growing pains, but choosing the right one can definitely make a parent's life easier. Durability and usage should be considered when browsing different brand names.
When shopping for a baby blanket, make sure you check the size and dimensions. Nothing is more disappointing than getting a nighttime baby coverlet home, only to find that it barely covers the infant. "Well it looks like I have another dust rag," you may think.
