my son wasnt really ready yet but i thought he was getting a little old. so i started telling him about wearing cool undies with his fav characters on them and he was all for it. he is going number 1 and 2 but he doesnt tell me he wants to go i just have to ask him. just take him outa diapers and just put undies on him. if he goes on himself just explain its a bad thing and that he should go to the potty. thats how i got my son going…

When he’s ready. If he’s a ‘young’ 2 (younger than about 2 1/2) then he’s probably nowhere near ready. 2 1/2-4 is the usual range.

(If you wait until the child IS ready, potty training goes quickly and the child is out of diapers and pretty reliably clean/dry within a week or so at most. If you start too early (like your daughter) then you can be at it for months or years … and have a child who is still in pull-ups and having frequent accidents for many months. Why make more work for yourself by starting early?)
